TAYA EDINA ART THERAPY & COUNSELLING
I am constantly in awe of the human spirit and the beautiful and breathtaking change that can occur when someone is offered support, advocacy and kindness. You are significant. As a therapist my drive is to honour your experience with kindness, openness and understanding and create a safe space for you to heal. I work mostly within a narrative therapy style that incorporates creative practices and believe you know better than anyone what you need to heal.

ABOUT ME
My name is Taya and I am an art therapist based in Sydney. My passion is helping youth and young people navigate their challenges, grow and heal. My therapy allows you to be heard and offers a time to notice and reflect on your thoughts, imaginations, memories and dreams.
I hold a Masters of Art Psychotherapy from Western Sydney University and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Sydney. I am a registered member of ANZACATA, the peak professional association for Arts Therapies in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. I am also registered as an affiliated member of PACFA, the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia.
I have extensive experience working in the social sector, working for non-government organisations in a therapeutic and holistic capacity. This has included one on one art therapy, casework & counselling, psychosocial support and art psychotherapy workshops with young people aged 5 – 25.
I value diversity and inclusion and feel privileged to have worked with and learnt from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and those identifying as LGBTQI+. I have worked in schools, as well as alternative education programs and pathways such as TAFE, NSW health & mental health facilities, Centrelink, Juvenile Justice, public and private legal services, custodial facilities, youth and adult refuges, social housing providers, transitional accommodation providers and child protection.
I believe each of us is unique and that each us is wonderful, our distinctive genetics and experiences shape our perspective and how we view ourselves within the larger context of the world. I have experience working with individuals facing a number of mental health challenges including Autism, ADHD, Major Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anorexia, Bulimia, Post Traumatic Stress, Dissociative Personality Disorder Borderline Personality Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder and Schizophrenia.
